THE STORY OF ANT - March 13, 2023 1:30 pm in the SSS Common Area
Anona Kampe, Indigenous Storyteller, brought to life the story of Ant to the classes of Ms. Lindsay Anderson, Ms. Hannah Van Os, and Mr. Marcus Blair. Special guest was Kathy Pierre, Director of Instruction for Indigenous Education and Equity. The plot: Moose, Grizzly, and Coyote all attempt to roll a boulder up Giant's Head but are overcome by the challenge. Ant comes along and digs a hole under the rock and slowly moves the rock up the mountain until she is successful garnering the respect and admiration of all the other animals.
Students were encouraged throughout the presentation to reflect on the themes of equity, ego, arrogance, competition, confidence, community, inclusion, support, etc.
