School District No. 67 would like to share a special message of support to our Summerland families, and all those most directly impacted by the Bald Range fire. We know that many families are still displaced, some have experienced significant loss, and many continue to face uncertainty as recovery efforts unfold. Please know that our thoughts remain with you during this difficult time, and District and school leaders have begun planning for the supports that will be needed in Summerland schools as we prepare for the start of the school year.
With respect to school startup:
- Summerland schools have not been directly impacted by the fire
- SD67 Facilities team is attending to HVAC systems in our buildings (addressing airflow/changing filters and ensuring our air quality is addressed)
- Our Summerland schools will be ready to welcome staff and students back for opening day matching all school start-ups – (Tuesday September 8).
- There are no plans for delayed start up at Summerland schools.
Our Summerland administrators will be sending communication out next week to parents and guardians and will provide more information about school start-up plans, available supports and opportunities to connect.
SD67 remains committed to supporting students, families and staff as our community continues its recovery.
